I got some more work done on the E30 last night. Notable patches include beefing up the driver’s side frame rail. To do this I welded a strip on both sides of the frame rail that I hammered and folded over the corner. Then welded a piece over top to cover the seam...
And then there was this series of patches on the passenger side footwell which included some funky geometry and a new section pinch seam where the fender attaches...

I wasn’t happy with some of these welds, some of them were a bit cold. Working with thin, old steel is tough. I can’t put much heat at all into it because it’ll blow through, and getting the surface free of contaminants is also hard in some spots. The old machine I’m using isn’t that great in terms of adjustability either which doesn’t help things. It gets the job done though which is all that matters.
